Someone would’ve gotten beat up and maybe one person would’ve sat in the back of the police car for a hour or so until cooler heads prevailed. Today, countless lives are lost due to senseless gun violence. In the 70’s as cars got faster and more people began to drive, the amount of deaths increased due to traffic accidents. Local and federal governments began studying these accidents and tried to find a solution to decrease the deaths. Seat belts were not mandatory in any car, in any state in the 70’s. For example: New York became the first state to require vehicle occupants to wear seat belts in 1984. Back then when seat belt laws were put in place, there were many people that believed that the government was over reaching and that they (the govt) was turning the country into a communist country. “ I should be able to do what I want in my car”, many Americans would express. Needless to say-less people involved in traffic accidents die today when they wear their seat belts. Congress won’t even allow a committee to be established to study gun violence so we can then figure out a solution. We need help now and passing gun reform has to happen now. So, until we stop worshipping guns and acting like guns aren’t the problem, we will continue to see mass shootings all over America, dance around why they happened and then send thoughts and prayers to the victims families and post videos like this! #itsthegunsstupid」5月10日 21時59分
