Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations combine a variety of operations, including sea control, sea denial, intelligence gathering, command and control, and others under one umbrella. Units taking part in EABO are deployed to distant and temporary locations, typically along coastal and shallow water areas (also known as littorals), and support the @usnavy by integrating with and supporting large naval campaigns. EABO is different because of the combination of operations that can be conducted inside the strike zone of adversary weapons. Some units that can carry out EABO include Marine Expeditionary Units and Marine Littoral Regiments. Marines taking part in EABO allow our nations' leaders and military commanders the flexibility to quickly respond without the need to build bases, dock at seaports, or construct permanent runways.
