Every once in a while, if we’re lucky, we encounter one of those extra special humans who just makes the people around them feel a little bit lighter… a little bit more at ease. Brandon Penny was one of those special people. I mostly saw Brandon in a work/athletic environment over the years, but whenever we ran into each other, I always felt more at peace. He was a friend to everyone, above all. And in the stressful world of competitive, Olympic sport in which he worked, that warmth and friendship meant a great deal to many, many athletes.
