It’s always better when we’re together. Meg and Icarus have bonded well and the relationship continues to build. Meg is quite happy to sleep deeply with Icarus very close by, which shows that the trust is getting there. I can’t tell you how pleased I am with this, as living alone is not ideal for these social cats. Unfortunately as all the animals in my care continue to live into their late teens, the reality of a few cats living on their own for the last few years of their lives is a reality, which I will have to deal with. Wherever possible, I’ll do my best to try pair lions up, but it’s not always feasible.
Meg is almost 20 now and Icarus just shy of 18.
The next few years are going to be tough dealing with the deaths, but there is a silver lining. My foundation and I, will endeavour to take in, rehabilitate and release wild animals in need and that have a realistic chance of survival, after being released into the wild.
