South Africa always creates some of the best memories for me, and Jbay has to be one of the best waves in the world. The excitement of corduroy off-shore lines fill your 180 degree view. The sunrise colors that greet you at 7am and hues of the sunset that end your day. Jbay is all about the right rhythm, speed, drive and creativity. It is a skill in itself to truly connect with each section of the 1000 meter wave. A haven to all surfers that have been lucky enough to grace this coast. My yearly three week visit is never enough to scratch the surface of all there is to explore in South Africa. My favorite highlights of this trip aside from surfing dreamy Jbay, were hiking Robberg point, the wildlife - wild ostriches on the Atlantic, elephants off the Garden route, and hiking Lion’s Head Mountain in Cape Town followed by an ice dip in the ocean pool at Camps Bay. I’ll need another post to tell you about how insanely delicious the food is. For now, enjoy this little sequence from our film trip this past summer.
