Starting with my great-grandma who worked in the Hanalei taro patches to my grandma being born at the Princeville Plantation house to my dad being the biggest wave magnet I know at our favorite wave :)— I wanted to honor home to the best of my ability in this film without over doing it with dialog. It really is a place that brings more of a feeling than words can describe. I am happy we got to share such an integral part of my life in this film, the reason I am who I am is because of where I grew up. The community, the waves, the environment. Lately I have been spending more time at home. As I have allowed myself to slow-down from such a fast pace competitive career I have especially been focused on watching my dad’s connection to the waves here. His approach to surfing is really incomparable- I owe a lot of what I know from both my parents passion for the ocean.
