The cliffs along the Na Pali Coast reach up to 4,000 feet (1,220 meters) above the Pacific Ocean and form an almost impenetrable barrier to the Kalalau Valley, accessible on foot only via a challenging 11-mile (18-kilometer) hike (permit required) from the nearest road.
