I responded— “I wish. I don’t think I’d ever have the confidence to wear only tape in public.. much less down a runway!” 😂😏 Fast forward to last year, 2021. It was a hard year for me and I was on some, “F**k it. We are LIVING life” vibes. I saw that Black Tape was having an open casting for his swim week show; but I was not going to be in Miami yet. I told myself I was going to record my runway walk and dm him asking to be in the show. I woke the next day, recorded it— then my mind started. “Why would he pick you? The women he has in his show are GORGEOUS established models. Who do you think you are?” I didn’t dm him. 😔 The next day I woke up & said, “What’s the worst that can happen? He doesn’t respond? He says no? Okk!” And sent my message. A few hours later he followed me back & responded asking some follow up questions, but then silence. I didn’t hear from him for 2 days and decided to message him again. I recorded my walk one more time and sent it to him. I said, “I know you’re busy casting, but I’d love to be in your show. I recorded this ^ this morning.” Again. He responded a little bit but then silence. The NIGHT before his scheduled show. I messaged him 1 more time: “The LAST thing I want to do is annoy you or piss you off. I know you’re busy. Here’s another video of my walk, I just recorded. Id love to be in your show.” & He responded with my call time for the next day!!!! 🤩🥳 Because of my dms I’ve since: - Traveled to Jamaica, twice, for Black Tape events. Won @paradisechallenge queen & have made so many lifelong connections/friends in this industry! - Traveled to Dubai for modeling. And because of that trip got to stop in PARIS, on layover, and see the Eiffel Tower and the Mona Lisa! - Traveled to Tulum! My 1st time in Mexico & got to bring my mom where we made memories that I will always cherish - & so much more. Bc of my dms & my persistence- my life and career is so different in just 1 year.
