Systemic racism is at the forefront of my life and many other peoples lives that look like me. Some of you will say that everything isn’t always about race. Lol! Well, again I will say to you, you do not live in my skin so please do not tell me or someone that looks like me what I go through daily. (And no I’m not moving because this is my country too). We all have to challenge these inequities so that every person is judged by the content of their character and not their skin color or sex. Even as a person that is recognized many places that I go, there are still those places that I go that I am seen as a black man that doesn’t belong. I’m not saying all of this to make anyone feel bad about themselves, but you should feel bad if you think that everyone receives the same opportunities in this country. And for many black and brown people, skin color disqualifies many of us from equitable positions in America. As you’ve seen in the video, there are systems in place that create those inequities. Just watch the video and see for yourself, how the resources for black folks are so limited in Chicago and in every city around America. These systems are racist, violent and need to change! republicans and democrats are both at fault and need to come together to find solutions!
