Unable to travel overseas due to the ongoing pandemic, Katsutaka "Jumbo" Yokoyama went to the island of Yakushima in Spring 2020 in search of new walls to climb. With its abundance of high-quality rock, he was convinced that Yakushima had the potential to become a world-class climbing destination; but difficulties with local climbers left a bad taste in his mouth. ⁠

The following year, Jumbo went back to Yakushima with Keita Kurakami (@keitakurakami), determined to make things right and develop the new routes in cooperation with the local climbing community. ⁠
