I recorded this in December when I saw the Foos live in Vegas. They opened the show with Times Like These and I sobbed. Wailed. It was just so good to be with some of my most favourite people seeing one of my most favourite bands, happy, healthy and grateful for it all. Hearing the news about Taylor Hawkins last night just gutted me. It’s weird to feel that way about someone you’ve never met. But as someone myself who has the intense and amazing gift of impacting people I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting in person yet, he did that for me. And moreover, the friendship and love between those two men is something that has always made my heart sing. I love love. All kinds of love. And I love how effusive they always were with each other (as evidenced in this video) All of us need to love and be loved so fiercely.

After seeing this show, I said to my podcast cohost and sister @unsolvedchristy that I felt like she was the Taylor to my Dave. And that’s probably why their friendship always made me so happy. My heart breaks for Dave today. An indescribable loss for the music world. And an unbelievable loss for his family and friends. RIP Taylor Hawkins. One of the greatest.
