You never know when you’ll get a job, how long it will be for, whether you’ll get replaced or canceled. Your schedule is constantly in flux. There are always last minute changes, long hours, and often filming takes place on location away from loved ones. It is rare, living the life of an actor, to experience the stability that comes along with 6 seasons of a show. And the joke is, you can never even enjoy it along the way because it could always just disappear tomorrow. I think that’s why some actors seem cold and others seem fake. It’s almost a self preservation thing - not wanting to get close to people you may never see again after next week. But once in a very magical while, stars align, and you get the chance to be a part of something different. What I learned in the past six years is that, with the right people, (the warm, genuine “non cold or fake” kind of people), the stability you can never truly find in this job, can actually be found within each other. It’s the spontaneous dance breaks with America. It’s Ben catching himself saying something he knows people are going to jump on him for. It’s one of those times I get Mark to REALLY laugh. It’s the sparkle in Nico’s eye right when he’s about to break in a scene. It’s catching eyes with Kaliko and communicating without a word. It’s Colton and I planning the best prank of all time. It’s Nichole always being an open ear for me when I’m going through it and offering such wisdom. It’s knowing that we can work together through the worst of a pandemic, in its epicenter, because we have that unspoken trust that only comes with being together for 6 years. It’s creating something together that we are all proud of. A true collaboration. Where the funniest jokes win no matter who came up with them. And the stories we tell are rooted in reflecting the world we live in. I couldn’t be more grateful and I couldn’t be more heartbroken. Truly the end of an era. I feel grateful. I feel proud.
