For Black History Month, we’re sharing this piece she wrote about how she is recognizing, honoring and celebrating the month with her family. (📷: @she_colorsnature) ----- Black History is American History. All month long I have had the opportunity of intentionally celebrating one Black woman from history every day. My daughters and I made a commitment to move through the book "Little Leaders, Bold Women in Black History" by @vashtiharrison. Every day we have found new and creative ways to remember the Black women in history by having thoughtful conversations about their lives, listening to their music or creating art or poetry inspired by them. This month has reminded me that Black women are waymakers and trailblazers for the girls who follow in their footsteps. I have been inspired by the writings of Gwendolyn Brooks and her poetic way with words. I have been moved by the bravery of women like Mary Bowser and Josephine Baker - saying "no" to the limits that segregation placed on them! I am proud to be in a place of creating space for BIPOC women in the backcountry. Paving the way for the future Black female adventurists, and giving my daughters someone they can look up to in the outdoors. Thankful for these women and the inspiration they have given me to keep going - keep taking up space!」2月26日 3時26分
