It’s hard to feel so out of shape, so not like an athlete, and so much like there’s not much I can do about it. But the mental side is what I can control in these next days— so I’ll begin again there!
-
The surgery I had Friday was to remove the 6 screws that I had previously holding my pelvic bone together after the breaks on each side. The surgery went relatively smoothly, except for a complication with bone growth over one of the screws, which led to some hammering, vice grips, and a stripped screw that needed to be plied out. My surgical team is f**ng bada** though, and I’m so thankful for everyone on it. The bone growth was in long term a good sign— healthy bones and good nutrition 😚.

That said, this weekend I felt pretty down and out. Every surgery comes with its post surgery Lull I suppose... and while this operation was relatively simple, it still involved cutting back open by my lower abs and opening back the adhesions.

I guess the end is near and that’s my driving light. But it has been hard emotionally to be back to what feels like square 1 when it comes to movement and needed rest, AND another break from climbing as the holes in my hips fill with bone and become sturdy again.
-
Honestly, all I want to do is be back to a fully operational GO- lifestyle ... to be able to walk down the street without this cloud of fear of slipping on ice and messing up my pelvis... to get back to lead climbing like I had pre 5th surgery...
-
The last 9 months have included 5 surgeries... 5 humbling, rock bottom, broken to my foundation phases. And now I am excited to actually rebuild. 🦾 so. It’s hard to find patience now. But I know it’s the last of it 🙏🏼
