But Buddy was having a tough go at it. He had had a few drinks, and decided to go to Ben Gold’s 708 Club. Armed with the desire to sound like @bbkingofficial and perform like Guitar Slim, Buddy got onstage and played like a man possessed. He hopped offstage and was told that The Mud saw the show and wanted to have a word.  @muddywatersofficial waited outside, in his red station wagon. He rolled down the window and asked Buddy if he liked salami. Buddy said, “I like anything.” Over slices of salami and fresh bread, the two men talked about growing up in the South, and working the fields as sharecroppers. Muddy told him not to worry anymore — he had found his new home.   Some sixty years later, Buddy was invited to play Sweet Home Chicago at the White House.
