Venus Cat さんのインスタグラム写真 - (Venus Cat Instagram)「Here we go...Ginger is getting a CT scan today to find out what the growth/mass is in her ear. 🙏 it’s not cancer which at the age of 15 is more of a probability than a polyp according to the specialist. 😿 We should have a definitive answer when we get the results of the CT scan. Quick question for managers/owners of practices or emergency centers. We have insurance through Trupanion. One of their nice perks is they have the ability to pay the covered items of the bill to the vet directly on your behalf. I found out this morning however, they can only remit credit card payment via phone same day IF the facility has their proprietary software. Otherwise, you pay up front & seek reimbursement (if you are so fortunate to have those funds on hand). Now this isn’t to cry poor but like many people (despite the stigma of “must be rich” if you have a famous cat), we are in a very different financial position than this time last year between moving to a new state & our main income (a blue collar business) suffering losses due to the relocation & loss of business from the economic effects of the lockdowns & such. Thankfully I was still in a position to pay & will file reimbursement but many aren’t in fact, it was just a couple weeks ago we shared a complete stranger’s Go Fund Me as he stood crying at emergency with his blocked cat without funds up front. My question to mangers/owners is, is there a reason you don’t have the Trupanion software to ease the stress especially w/ emergencies? It seems like it would benefit everyone from the clinic to the owner, to the pet as well. The surgery following this CT scan has been estimated at $5k. It’s not comfortable to admit this but I may need to seek a surgeon who has the software to accept direct payment if this hospital doesn’t get it. It’s been a tough year in multiple ways & things have changed for many. Timing is bad. So I’m genuinely curious if there is a reason every vet everywhere doesn’t have the ability to accept direct payment from Trupanion ins by having their claims processing software.
