In one of our first interactions, I told him that I was studying Chemistry and he looked at me like I was insane. “Why would you major in Chemistry? You must be in those books all the time!”  . Shortly after we were married, I accepted my job here and he was working out of state. And so for the first several months, we had a remote marriage. Some of the pull for me [to recruit him to join #CIA] was because we had been apart for so long. The idea of working in the same place and being able to share more about my work day appealed to me. It all sounded perfect. Plus being able to carpool doesn’t hurt. The reserved parking for carpoolers is even closer to the building than some of the manager spots. . What’s funny is, when he finally did join, we were in the same building but completely different offices. Our paths never crossed. We don’t think anyone knew we were together for a long time. People didn’t really start piecing it together until we went to a couple outside events together.  . We’ve had the opportunity to attend a few career fairs together, and one of the shocking things is the amount of students who approach us, stunned to see persons of color representing CIA. There is a misperception, one that CIA is trying to change, that only older, white gentlemen work here.
