Wallpaperさんのインスタグラム写真 - (WallpaperInstagram)「The winner of Best Double Act in our Wallpaper* Design Awards 2021 is Japanese architect Tadao Ando and French businessman and art collector Francois Pinault. ⁠ ⁠ The pair have worked together on a number of projects over a period of 20 years and their latest collaboration is the hotly-anticipated Bourse de Commerce in Paris, providing a new home for works from Pinault’s phenomenal art collection. ⁠ ⁠ The museum is housed in a historical building dating back to 1763, and has been transformed by Ando using a concrete cylindrical intervention and a double-spiral staircase that allows for criss-crossed perspectives. ⁠ ⁠ Ando says he wanted to ‘formulate a space for humans to contemplate the future within a stimulating environment, where old and new co-exist side by side. My definition of “renovation” in architecture is to establish an exquisite and delicate balance between new and old.
