Nothing beats the winter blues like a tray of patisseries and a ray of golden light, so it’s high time we present you with the winners of our Best Tea Time award in the 2021 Wallpaper* Design Awards. First up are French pastry chef Nicolas Rouzaud’s (@nicolasrouzaud) classic treats and contemporary delicacies. When London’s Connaught Hotel (@theconnaught) opened the doors to its new Patisserie, designed by Ab Rogers (@abrogersdesign), in October last year, we were first in the queue to sample Rouzaud’s St Honoré cakes, yuzu and honeycomb éclairs and chocolate tonka tarts. ⁠

The Connaught’s treasure trove of treats can be displayed to stunning effect on Artemide’s ‘Bontà’ collection (@artemide_lighting), designed by Davide Oldani (@davideoldani) and Attila Veress (@attilaveress.studio). The portable lamp, which gives a soft light diffused by white milk glass, and the jewel-hued dishes are designed to explore the connection between light, food and conviviality, adding delightful new dimensions to the entertaining experience.⁠
