My son is 11, and my daughter is two. So I’ve had my son my whole life, I call it—because I was pregnant when I was 19 and had him when I was 20. We've grown up together. It's not the easiest thing for a child, to have a child as a mother. Luckily, he's just an incredible human in his own right. My daughter is so sweet and so funny, and they love each other so much. My son is helping to shape my activism a lot. He’s my first point of contact. When I learn anything, I’m desperate to go and tell him about it, actually. So I really encourage parents to talk to their kids about climate change because children are so logical. In order to feed my son information about climate change, I need to break it down in a way that he’s going to understand it—and by doing that, I understand it better myself.
