We were forced to take stock of the world around us; the lives we have created for ourselves, how we choose spend our time and who we choose to spend it with; who we choose to support and how actively we choose to support them. It’s hard to admit but we are fickle creatures. It’s all too easy for us humans to leave realisations behind as we continue with business as usual…no matter how profound the realisation felt at the time. But my hope is that we can hold on to the important lessons we learned (and are still very much learning) as the world came to a grinding halt. I hope we can pocket our lessons and take them with us into the future we build. My other hope is that the world doesn’t go back to “normal”, not the normal we were once so used to. I’d like us all to go back to different…and truly weed out all of the overconsumption, exhaustion and discrimination that society once unconsciously accepted. Through all of the chaos and destruction in 2020, a light shined on the true heroes we live amongst...our incredible healthcare workers, kind neighbours, carers, farmers, shop keepers - all key workers who kept us alive. A light also shined on the simple things in life that make us human and keep us going. Nature, connection, time, stillness, kindness and the wonderfully mundane moments we experience side by side as we journey through life together. On a personal level, if your own world ever does start to feel like it’s going back to a place of unconscious routine, write yourself one question right now that you can always come back to and ask yourself. A question that brings consciousness to the life you choose lead and decisions you make. My question is “is what I’m about to do going to be good for the earth on which I live?” I would love to hear the lessons you have learned and realisations you have had this year. Please share in the comments and I’ll be posting them on my stories as a reflection on 2020. Wishing you all a wonderful and different New Year...」12月31日 20時22分 - arizona_muse
