This is what the US Capitol looks like ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration. There are about 25,000 National Guard troops on the ground in Washington, DC, a National Guard spokesperson said Tuesday. On Monday, Acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller said that the “scope of military participation is unique'' to this inauguration, adding there is “no intelligence indicating an insider threat” from the National Guard forces to the security of the inauguration.
