My gut told me it had to do with the premature loss of my childhood, the effect of taking care of my cousin turned sister at a young age. This burden had bound me to invisible shackles that I was starting to become aware of. SISSY is the breaking of my chains and the beginning of my transformation into the unencumbered person I've longed to be. It's safe to say I'm not the only person who desires this kind of metamorphosis. Life, by its very nature, is a traumatic experience. At some point, we've all found ourselves tethered to some festering wound we do not know how to heal. Such was the situation for my sister, whom this story is also about. Her young life has been a series of horrific, damaging events, but miraculously, she is learning to mend her wounds. Our relationship and the love we share has been a salve, for both of us, and the key to freeing us from our painful binds.
