I’m known primarily for my concert, sports action, and portrait work. Landscapes are not really my thing, but I wanted to make a unique photograph of the Bow Bridge in New York’s Central Park. The famous location has been featured in movies and photographed from every possible angle, so it’s not easy to come up with something new. With my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV and EF 16-35mm f/4 IS USM on a sturdy tripod, I added a Hoya R72 infrared filter on the lens and used a cable release to capture this two-minute exposure. The filter blocks most of the visible light, but allows the infrared spectrum to pass through to the camera’s sensor.
