I couldn’t understand why? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Regardless, I jumped at the opportunity not only because I had so much fun collaborating with Mariah but because we were always very proud of the work we did together. Mariah always challenged me and I feel I did my best music video work with her. She was always supportive of making a mini-movie with a beginning, middle and end instead of a simple performance video. We definitely had great chemistry and not only did Mariah come with great ideas ie; creating her alter ego character of Bianca, but she was always down for anything I threw at her! She wanted to fight her alter ego in the video and I had already directed #RushHour so I brought with me @JackieChan’s key stunt choreographer @andycheng23 to train her! Mariah blew us all away with her physicality! Not surprising since she always puts 200 percent effort into anything she does! Her work ethic is like no one I have ever worked with besides #JackieChan and that’s why she always delivers for her fans. She was even cool enough to let me break into the middle of her hit song and throw in legendary composer #LaloSchifrin’s score from Bruce Lee’s Enter The Dragon! On the first day of shooting she showed up with the waist band of her jeans cut OFF! I respectfully asked her if she would please go back to her trailer and find a proper pair of jeans to wear! She was adamant that young girls would love it! I didn’t believe her at all and fought for her to change. Girl was I wrong! When the video finally aired every place I went I saw kids walking around with their waist band cut off! Mariah gets it. She has always gotten it and that’s what makes her Mariah. What amazing talent coupled with her ear to what audiences want makes her not only the singer of her time but of all time. She has a huge heart and empathy for people and is not afraid to be vulnerable with her art which is why she is so loved by so many and that includes me!
