Back in 1986, Valentino Campagnolo decided to extend the range of Campagnolo’s products to wheels, and thus was born the Ghibli, the first lenticular wheel. Early in the 1990s he astonished the world with the first high-profile wheel, the Shamal. Campagnolo established the concept of the complete wheel in which every component is especially constructed to work together with the others.

In 1994, using Shamal wheels, Miguel Indurain and Eugeni Berzin won, respectively, the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia.
