MUST READ: A decade ago, @nicholasmullinss was one of the most promising skateboarders to come from the Midwest as you can see here in these two clips. His style, his trick selection, his lack of fear and total control over his skateboard easily predicted his future, then, LITERALLY, overnight…. it all changed. A typical road rash scrape turned into a deadly staph infection and overnight he was given a 1% chance to live. Nicholas Maher (@mashmyles) has now made one of the most inspirational short films I’ve ever seen about Nick Mullins and his road to staying alive. I’m post one question and one answer from Nicholas Maher about his film, You And The Thing That You Love. Read question #4 below and watch the entire film now. LINK IN BIO. #berrics

Q#4
SB: Is there anything about the skateboarding culture that you find parallels what you do in making films?

NM: Perfection. If I know I can do a shot better, or write a better score or do anything better I won’t stop until it’s perfect. That reminds me of skating as a kid and never being satisfied with a trick unless it was perfect. If the landing was sketchy or a hand hit the ground it was basically as if I didn’t even do it. Thinking about this now I think that those two things are in lock. The desire to make it as good as you possibly can.
