His style, his trick selection, his lack of fear and total control over his skateboard easily predicted his future, this kid was going places… then, literally, overnight…. it all changed. Nick fell at a skate spot, and a typical road rash, something we get every day as skaters, turned into a deadly staph infection and overnight he was given a 1% chance to live. Nicholas Maher (@mashmyles) has now made one of the most beautiful short films that I’ve ever seen and it’s all about Nick Mullins and the resilience of the human spirit. Over the next two days I’m going to post one question and one answer from Nicholas Maher about his moving film and the process of making it. To watch the entire film, hit the LINK IN BIO. Q#1 SB: Nicholas Maher, what is your background with filmmaking and editing?   NM: I more or less kind of stumbled into filmmaking and editing, to be honest. I used to work at a recording studio as a teenager and was focused on studying music, but the studio also provided some video services and I kind of got roped into editing when I wasn’t assisting on recording sessions. I loved it. Everything I knew about music I could use in editing, and then eventually filming. The timing, pacing of things, arcs, resolution, delivery, everything. I loved it all.」12月13日 7時20分 - berrics
