I’m Lara Jade. I’m a fashion & beauty photographer based in NYC. I am originally from Staffordshire (England) and I’ve been shooting now for over 16 years! It’s hard to believe that I’ve had a camera in my hands for over half of my life! I started out in photography by shooting self portraiture & fine art photography - this enabled me to hone my skills and build confidence behind and in front of the camera. However, it was fashion photography that really grabbed my attention after a few years of experimentation & collaboration. I’m not just a fashion photographer - I’m an educator! I am often teaching photography classes via online courses, at conventions or in person workshops! I became an educator due to the lack of education around fashion photography. When I first entered the photography industry it felt untouchable - almost as if there was a thick red curtain around the industry. Sets were closed off, people didn’t want to share their techniques and I was often left feeling confused and frustrated. I realized right then and there, I wanted to help make a change for the next generation of photographers! As an artist, I never want to stop learning and I encourage you to do the same. One of my favorite quotes is 'comfortability is the enemy of innovation' and in today’s industry I believe it’s more important than ever to stand out from the crowd & stay current. I was recently named a Canon Explorer Of Light and it has been an honor to join the team!
