Time-lapse video by @babaktafreshi / It was a spectacular night under dark sky in Death Valley National Park a couple of years ago. The best annual meteor shower is usually the Geminids on December 14. This year it will happen on a moonless night. If you find dark, clear skies nearby you will be able to enjoy a beautiful display. The peak hour is 01:00 UT, which in the Americas will be in the late evening of December 13. In Europe and West Africa, watch near midnight and afterward. As we go farther east to Asia, it will be best seen before morning twilight on December 14. In perfect conditions you may see up to a hundred meteors per hour at the peak. The show will also be visible during the nights before or after the peak and in the Southern Hemisphere at a reduced rate.
