Well... looking ahead to 2022, an important #PlasticPollution initiative is on the ballot in California.⁣ ⁣ If voters pass it, the Plastics Free California initiative will:⁣ ⁣ -Reduce the amount of single-use plastic sold in CA by 25% by 2030, and ensure the remaining 75% is truly recyclable, compostable or reusable by 2030.⁣ ⁣ -Hold Big Plastic financially responsible for their pollution by creating a “plastics tax", a fee on plastic producers that will help fund the state’s recycling and composting infrastructure, and restore environments impacted by plastic pollution.⁣ ⁣ -Phase out the use of Expanded Polystyrene (aka Styrofoam) takeout containers in favor of more sustainable alternatives.⁣ ⁣ We have a long, hard fight ahead of us to get the word out and combat misinformation from the plastics, oil, and gas industries.
