Photo by @daisygilardini / Antarctica is a continent covered by a thick layer of ice and surrounded by an ocean that ices over during the dark winter months, while the Arctic is an ocean partially covered by ice during the northern winter. I first visited Antarctica in 1997 and fell in love at first sight. That made me curious to see the Arctic. They are so different, yet also similar. Both are dangerously addictive. I’ve spent the past 20 years documenting the changes in the polar regions. Each time I’ve been as excited as I was that very first time. I always feel as if ice is flowing in my veins. I can never get enough of it.
