Maaaaaaaaaannn this might be fighting words but—-for me at least— there was one true institution & king. Up until 2011, unless I was outvoted, or it was past hours, or maybe the promotor thought he could pull a fast one on me? I only chose one hoagie god. My dad & I had our hoagie treat ritual by going to the spot HE been going to as a teen in the 50s: #MelinosHoagies. I was 8. This is where I learned most Philly sandwiches are purchased between 8am-2pm (if you’re lucky). See, the store closes when you run out of bread from @AmorosoBaking. There is NO other substitute. So you might have to wait about 30 mins for them to hook your jawn up (back in the 80s? It was more like 45 mins) they got some shine when @Oprah flew some out to Chicago to feed her guests in the 80s) these hoagies were a work of art.  I went from 6 hoagies a month to like 1 hoagie a year. But MAN this was the guiltiest of all guilty pleasures.  All my life #MarkMelinos has made my hoagies from his 15th & Ellsworth family corner store (w the exception of chips/soda/beanpies they sold NOTHING ELSE. I might double down on the and say what Jiro was to sushi, Melinos was to hoagies (again my opinion, my post: I’ve had other awesome hoagies but for 40+ yrs I was dedicated to ONE spot)   Thank You Mark for your dedication to the culinary culture of Philadelphia.
