Ahead of the collection launch this month, we visited Van Assche in Paris to discover this high-spirited homage to modern European design. Drawing on his longstanding interest in applied arts, Van Assche selected pieces by Werkstätte Carl Auböck, Gae Aulenti, and Afra and Tobia Scarpa and reinterpreted them with Berluti's colourful patinated leather: 'The idea is to take existing design, but to embellish it with our know-how.'⁠⠀

Van Assche has additionally tasked designer @simonhasanlondon with creating five new boiled leather vases with statuesque silhouettes achieved via a 15th-century crafts technique. 'The fact that he makes art pieces in a similar way to how we traditionally make shoes felt like a nice match,' Van Assche tells us.⁠⠀
