‘Push Up’ is a new film project by visual artist and set designer Lisa Jahovic (@lisa_jahovic) and photographer and director Sam Hofman (@samhofmanstudio). The film documents a series of surreal and nostalgic sculptures as they contort, writhe and appear to take on a life of their own with creature-like or human characteristics.⁠

The project drew inspiration from the mechanisms of wooden 'push up' toys from childhood, which can slacken and instantly reassemble at their owner’s command. The element of power in the film, say Jahovic and Hofman is ‘a notion of the surreal’ in which the viewer is unsure whether the sculptures are ‘being moved or are moving themselves.’⁠
