Even if I live kind of close to it....if we consider driving 10 hours a short distance, I have only been there once almost 15 years ago. I was truly happy to go back there last week as it brings back some good memories of Gaspésie Peninsula! The landscapes there are so different then what we have in Montreal. What a lovely part of my province this is! That morning was my last one of this very short and spontaneous trip before driving back those one thousand kilometers back home. And due to the fact that the trip was planned very last minute, I didn’t get to choose according to the tides...the ideal tide would have been much lower allowing me to go closer to Rocher Percé so instead of that, I found a huge chunk of log on the beach, used it as a cool foreground interest and went for this composition which shows the rock formation right next to the main land. Let’s go back in time a little...Jacques Cartier who was the first french explorer to navigate to the newly discovered continent and all along the Gaspésie coast at the beginning of the 16th, noticed a rock formation. That rock formation had three holes in it back then. The second hole collapsed in 1845 leaving the smaller sea stack on the right of Rocher Percé. And today, only one arch still remains. Many tons of rocks are falling from Rocher Percé every year which makes it really unsafe to be anywhere around the rock. And according to some experts, the last arch should collapse in approximately 400 years so you have plenty of time to see it! This image was shot with my Canon 5DSr and a Canon EF 11-24mm f4.0 at 14mm, 0.5 second, f11 and ISO 125. I did use a @fotodioxpro 2 stop Neutral Density filter to slow down the motion of water a little! Is visiting this lovely area part of your plans for anytime soon? You would for sure love Gaspésie! 😊」11月17日 22時39分 - instagood
