Pamela Jelimo 🇰🇪 is the 2008 Olympic 800m champion 🥇 and the 3rd fastest women ever, with a RIDICULOUS PB of 1.54.01. @tamsynlewismanou 🇦🇺 is the 2008 world indoor champion!!! This photo is from 2012 when I was 20 years old after a race in Belgium 🇧🇪 I was 1 of the youngest getting to race against my heroes on the international circuit!! My PB going into his race was 2.03.87 from 2010 (only ran 2.05.00 in 2011). 2 days before this 800m I got to line up against these women (I was absolutely buzzing getting to be in a race with them) in a 600m where I ran 1.26.72 (New Zealand record 🇳🇿). This suggested that I would be able to run a good 800m time and gave me huge confidence! Pamela and Tamysn were so nice to me, I was star struck, especially when Pamela asked me to put on her race bib number in the call room. They treated me like I deserved to be there and this really helped my mindset! Pamela went out hard from the gun, spreading out the rest of the field.. she ran 1.56 in this race, 1 month before she came 3rd at the 2012 Olympics!! I felt amazing in this race and had a really strong finish, running a huge PB to get 2nd in 2.00.67. This was under the @worldathletics Olympics Qualifier but just off the NZ standard at the time.. I wasn't even thinking about going to those Olympics before this race but suddenly I was right there, but it was a little too close. I made this dream come true 4 years later! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️ I will always remember that race and the people who were so kind to me, helping me get a huge break through and helping me reach my dreams ❤️❤️❤️ Let's remember that although everyone wants to win in sport and competitiveness is super important, kindness makes the world a better place, it costs nothing but can mean more to others than we will ever know. 💕💕💕」11月14日 17時48分
