There’s an incredible movement emerging in the art world, enabling listeners & fans to support musicians & visual artists in a new way.

What if you could OWN & collect digital art? Art that you love & appreciate, but solely exists in digital space?

There are now amazing tools that assign proof of such ownership or “provenance” by utilizing distributed ledger technology. Imagine, only a few REAL editions of a digital file will ever exist (mp4, mp3, jpeg) - these are signed / authenticated by the artist or creator.

While everyone can view or listen to these files, only an artist’s biggest supporters will truly own the original versions. Record of such ownership is published to an immutable public ledger (more popularly know as a “bl0ckçhàin”) for everyone to see - the record cannot be changed. Yet, the owners can choose to resell or transfer the art they’ve collected.

This concept feels sort of foreign, but rarity in the digital world is by no means new. Instagram verification checkmarks, Fortnite skins & Patreon subscriptions have all proven the inherent value in digital scarcity, or exclusive access to digital content.

A painter may spend weeks on a painting to create a single edition. Realistically, that edition looks the same on google as it does in person, yet, being the OWNER makes a person FEEL something that’s difficult to describe with words. It could be pride, in support of an artist you enjoy. It could be meaningful to your identity as an expression of your artistic taste.

All digital artists spend significant time on their creations to rarely see much money from their work, especially during this mid-COVID dystopia. By joining the digital art movement, you are supporting those artists during a difficult time, and you’ll hopefully experience a unique kind of euphoria, as I have personally, from starting a digital art collection comprised of your favorite artists’ works!
