ブラウさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ブラウInstagram)「My 1st song of 2023 just came out and it’s a pretty big moment for me. It’s called Happy / Sad - because we tend to think of our lives in binary ways. Things are either INCREDIBLE or absolutely hellish, we classify ourselves as either X or Y & it can feel extremely paralyzing. It was paralyzing for me, but I was failing to recognize that there’s a lot of beauty in the gray. I haven’t made too much music recently because I wasn’t always proud of my past creativity. I felt that a lot of my career I was being “reactive” to what people wanted to hear, instead of being proactive about what I wanted to say with my music. Let’s be real, I started out as a college mashup DJ, but I secretly wished I could make music that was as impactful as my inspirations like Sigur Ros, Radiohead & Burial. “Tokyo” was maybe the first record that felt like it was truly me (released at the end of 2019), but then covid hit, and I lost that creative momentum. What I learned though was that the way I looked at the world was my choice, not anyone else’s. You can choose to let the biggest stresses debilitate you, or you can choose to mentally overcome it. Happy / Sad is different for me, but it’s the 1st song I made in a style I’m proud of, but still developing. I’ve loved mixing familiar vocals with more underground production, and this song is a step in that direction. There’s probably an album on the horizon, I’m not sure what it’s called, or exactly how it will sound, but I’m glad you’re still here reading this and listening to the stuff I make.
