As a human being distraught by the amount of hatred and division that has been illuminated and exacerbated by the current administration, I am taking a moment to release and exhale alongside so many of you this week. There is so much work to be done, and these two will undoubtedly have their work cut out for them, but I believe they will bring us back together as a country. I believe in the power of kindness and love as the ultimate healing salve, and the speeches that were given gave me the much needed hope that we can unite, and release so much of what we’ve been carrying, pain we’ve been inflicting, and egos we’ve been nurturing. For those of you who aren’t political, this is still your country and you still have as much power as those who want to use their voice. For those of you who feel wronged and disappointed in the results of this election, there is space for that too. But we have to get to a place where we can hear each other again. The last four years have shown us who we are, who we want to be, and what we want to evolve beyond. We will never be the same again because of it, nor should we. It’s time to hold hands and walk into the next chapter together regardless of who you voted for, because that’s what Americans do. We fight for each other, we agree to disagree, and we unite.
