In all my years, I’ve never felt more American than I do today. My hope for more unity and humanity is not for naught. As a citizen of America, I am so happy to now be in better care. Having struggled with identity issues for so long, I feel that no matter what blood lineage I am, America indeed is and always will be my birthplace. And that means I will always care for it and love it.

Although this country was created in the midst of deep pain and loss of and for others, it is never too late to pave the path for more love and acceptance. As humans, we are deeply flawed yet amazingly perfect in our imperfections.

Where there is division, there cannot be peace. But with hope and love, it can be restored. Because it is never too late to apologize and to forgive. What has been done cannot be undone. But today is an opportunity for endless possibilities.
