DAVID BOWIE ULTIMATE RECORD COLLECTION PART 2

“Had to cram so many things, To store everything in there...”

Editor John Robinson has been in touch with an exclusive first look at the latest in Uncut’s Ultimate Record Collection series, the second Bowie URC: David Bowie: 1977-1989.

The magazine’s bold claim is: “Every Bowie record from 1977 to 1989, in order of release.”.

While super-collectors might take issue with the word “every”, it would be churlish not to acknowledge this attempt at a very useful pictorial resource of the period, and what is also a great check list for the novice and seasoned collector alike, as was the first instalment.

We’ll leave you with an edited excerpt from John’s introduction:

AS eagle-eyed readers of our Ultimate Record Collection will have noted, Part II of our Ultimate Record Collection: David Bowie did not join you in April as was promised but arrives with you now in November. I hope you’ll find it was worth the wait. The first volume of this definitive discography/ timeline had a simple but valuable aim: to show you that thing beyond price: an original copy of every
issued Bowie recording, and the story of how it was made, by the people who worked on it alongside him making it.

Part I in this Bowie-appropriate trilogy took us from 1964 to 1976. Since world conditions conspired to make finding that publication as hard as possible, we’ve reprinted it alongside what we hope will
be something just as enthralling: Part II.

This volume takes us from the Château d’Hérouville, where co-conspirators like guitarist Ricky Gardiner, engineer Laurent Thibault and producer Tony Visconti are working on Low. It travels through the “Berlin Trilogy”, all the way to Let’s Dance and beyond, and the start of Tin Machine.
