Question is, HOW does it happen so quickly?! Ammiright?! #sponsored Do you ever wonder the same thing? As a child I would take those thoughts even further when looking at my sweet grandparents and ponder the idea of actually being 80 years old? 90 years old? Time, time stops for no one... Some of my fondest childhood memories are ones spent with my grandparents. My dad‘s parents, Grandma Clair and Grandpa Sid lived in Tucson, Arizona. My mom‘s parents, Grandma Peg and Grandpa Clay lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Every summer my brother and I would spend a week with our grandparents. He would go to Tucson and I’d go to Albuquerque or vice versa. I so looked forward to these special summer trips. ♥️ As I got older and they needed more care and attention, both sets of grandparents moved into retirement communities. Visiting them did not look the same as it did when I was a child, but spending quality time with them — no matter where they lived was a joy and an honor. I lost both sets of grandparents years ago but still feel grateful for the senior care homes that they lived in and the care and attention they received. Grandma Peg was a social butterfly and pretty much the “mayor” where she lived. 😍 I loved walking around with her as every person would say, “hello Peg!” My grandma would call each person by their name. She always wanted people to feel comfortable and included. ☺️ Grandma Clair was a hoot, bossing around my grandpa and always taking charge. She loved getting her hair done, movie nights and socializing with the “girls”. It was a delight to see how my grandparents made so many new friends and companions in their later years of life. You could see that they embraced and enjoyed where they lived and the people they were now sharing their lives with. I have so many fond memories of playing bingo, rummikub and spades in the game room, delicious meals in the dining hall (that was impressive and a surprise😉) and hours upon hours of TV cuddled on the couch under blankets.
