The whole process and journey of the film had so many emotions of passion, excitement, mystery, love, grief, tragedy and mourning. I was at lost for words when I heard the news of what happened. I was shocked with disbelief that something like this could happen. I was actually mad... at a young age processing lost is quite a labyrinth of emotions. I grew up repeatedly watching my VHS box set of all of Bruce Lee’s movies. Loved them... I mean he’s our super hero. So naturally I gravitated towards Brandon’s work. Rooting for him over Dolph in “Showdown in little Tokyo”, to Rapid Fire, and then his iconic role as Eric Draven in The Crow. The film resonated not just because the story was based off the comic but because of what it represented for me as an Asian kid growing up loving comic books. Watching Brandon Lee play an actual character from comics was something special. It meant something more than just a movie role. It gave me a sense hope. Strange to say, but it just felt like, maybe one day I can be in film as well. His character in the Crow, rose from the grave to avenge the death of his love. Sounds familiar... ✞ I’m not comparing simply stating similarities for my legalistic church goers. Where you may see darkness, I see light ✨ The overall look of the film was gritty like Batman with goth, yet charismatically charming. I was quite the loner growing up so the character resonated. I literally haven’t dressed up in over ten years, and since my hair grew out over quarantine I felt like if there was ever the time to go all out it’s now. The loner kid inside of me wanted to feel connected to an emotion that moved him so much growing up again. I have a deep unspoken intimate admiration and sincere respect for Brandon and The Lee family.
