This was me last night, waiting for our party to start. I didn’t do a family costume this year; just picked through old costumes and focused on decorating the house- it was the first time we spent Halloween outside of NYC with the kids and I wanted to make it special. So, we threw a small shindig with our pandemic bubble. Three families including us. The dads took the kids for the day, while the moms put our whole house together. We transformed the upstairs into a haunted house for indoor trick or treating with different themed rooms- a witch’s den, a Hogwarts dorm room, dead fish alley and a disco dance party. We also did some masked trick or treating in our neighborhood, a ghost/candy hunt in the backyard (with a live ghost who scared the bejesus out of everyone) and it was all so much fun. So much better than I had hoped. I am going to attempt to show some of it on my story but just know, no pictures or video will do it justice. We did it all after dark. Plus, looking back through my camera role, I’m kinda shocked at how little I captured. But I guess that’s the true testament of a good time. The kids will remember this Halloween for a long time. And the adults REALLY NEEDED IT.
