A new survey indicates that 70% of Americans support same-sex marriage — the highest percentage of supporters the survey has recorded. The 2020 American Values Survey, published by the Public Religion Research Institute, asked over 2,500 respondents from every US state their opinions on various issues, including LGBTQ rights. Support for same-sex marriage jumped among almost every group polled, including every religious group except White evangelicals. Robert Jones, the founder and CEO of PRRI, said the survey is remarkable evidence that same-sex marriage is no longer as divisive as it was even a few years ago.
