Michelle Pfeiffer might already have an Oscar campaign to run. Although the 2021 Academy Awards aren't for another six months, that hasn't stopped awards-watchers from building a case for her role in French Exit, which premiered earlier this month at the New York Film Festival. The film, scheduled for a February 2021 release, stars Pfieffer as a Manhattan socialite who moves to Paris with her son and their cat after she spends the last of her husband's inheritance—the cat, voiced by Tracy Letts, is also the reincarnation of her late husband.
