After my son Jared was killed just two weeks before his 24th birthday, I found Moms Demand Action and the @everytown Survivor Network, which allowed me to share my story and help make sure no other mother has to go through what I did. Jared is the reason why I’m an activist, and he is why I’m here to talk about #DemocracyDemandsAction, a program that makes it easy to volunteer on Election Day by signing up to be a poll worker, a poll monitor or a member of a voter support squad. After seeing what happened in Georgia’s primary election this year, where some voters waited hours in line to cast their ballots, I’ve decided to join the voter support squad in my state.
