Digital fashion month is nearly done (sorta - as some have opted to present out of season and that’s absolutely fine to dictate your own rhythm)

Monster Tuesday at the end of PFW began with @シャネル #ChanelSpringSummer this morning and whilst I was sweating through tweed trying to IG Live our Teams call, screenshare, screenrecord and take in @virginieviard ‘s infectious “Chanelwood”collection , I thought about how this month has taught me that yes, it IS possible to see shows remotely

How the circumstances have given us new mediums to absorb and new means for us to cover them. For sure I was geeking out on new software and figuring a lot of things out in frustration, but within that process, there’s discovery of a new way of communicating shows

I do still miss the physical aspect. I won’t lie and say I wouldn’t have loved to have been at the show today where with less seats and the models closer, you could really take in those mini vanity cases hanging off the belts. Also just to say that for a lot of brands, digital films etc don’t quite replace the physical act of seeing clothes up close. Fashion is predicated on the sense of touch, physical sight of movement and even the sounds of textiles, that are difficult to communicate through screen

But are we at the beginning of exploring a new way of proceeding with fashion month? Even when the pandemic is over, can we contemplate a month of less physical shows and more impactful digital experiences. I hope so.

So yes there were bloopers, tech difficulties and imperfect streams but within all of that - a learning curve I very much appreciated
