How to bring a collection to life? By blowing it up life size.
Housed in an A1 folder are superbly printed posters depicting the @Loewe SS21 looks on a 1:1 scale. And alongside this nostalgic folder (memories of grappling with these monsters on the bus for A-Level art) are things that induce an even more permanent state of being - Anthea Hamilton printed wallpaper, a look book border roll, paste, a solid brush, a Loewe marked pair of scissors

The message? Communicating the weight and heft of staying at home. @jonathan.anderson has cleverly gotten would-be guests to engage, unfold and look in the comfort of their own surroundings

What really struck me as I unfolded every single poster was the amount of fabric and volume that engulfed the surface. Anderson was looking at historical clothing as a form of escapism, and seeking ways to force shape and movement with displaced boning. With leather basketweaving, the curved shapes take on a harder form. Save for the sculptural knotted knitwear, everything billows out with abandon. It’s an ambitious collection that deserves to be blown up

**EDIT** just to say I’m reading all of the comments re: sustainability of these boxes and trying to reply to them all but wanted to add a general note that I am NOT advocating that this IS the perfect way of showcasing a collection for every brand. It is effective (for me) for Loewe and the one thing I’m discarding is the paper box which I have compacted into recycling (thanks rain). Everything else is for keeps. I feel that digital experience in shows still leaves a lot to be desired having diligently watched a lot of them. There’s still room for truly innovative digital growth amidst the ongoing pandemic but I also recognise that creators like Anderson do still want to create physical imprint in lieu of shows. There is no magic one size fits all solution. It is my personal opinion that I don’t see this type of printed matter as wasteful when produced in its limited numbers. That certainly isn’t the case for other things that have arrived that are indeed truly wasteful. Hope that expands on the convo.
